Meet Fatima Abrahams
Home cook, teacher and keeper of the family spice tin.

Our story
A Bo-Kaap Kitchen Story
How It All Started
Fatima grew up in a colourful house on Wale Street, where her grandmother cooked for the whole neighbourhood every Friday. As a girl, she ground spices, folded samoosas and learned that good food is always shared. After years of cooking for weddings and family gatherings, she began teaching small classes from her own kitchen.
Why I Write These Books
Many Cape Malay recipes were never written down; they lived in our mothers’ hands. Fatima writes these books so the flavours of the Cape stay alive for the next generation, and so every South African can enjoy them at home.
